Breastfeeding Portrait, Monmouth, South Wales.

Nicky & Lucille

"When my first daughter was born, there was so much pressure to feed her myself. Bottle feeding wasn't an option as we didn't have water and electricity, and my mum fed my brothers and I so I didn't see why I shouldn't. Unfortunately at 5 days old she was admitted to SCBU with suspected group B strep, followed by a nightmare of pumping and syringe feeding until she got better.

When our son was born breastfeeding was a peace of cake compared the first one! Both my daughter and son fed until they were about 2 years, and never took a bottle.

As for baby number 3, she is a dream! She latched on straight away after a very laid back water birth, and we did manage to persuade her to take a bottle as I had to go back to work. I pump every day so there is always the following days bottle ready, and the rest gets frozen. All 3 were so different - number 3 doesn't even feed to sleep! (Shocking!) I will be sad when this chapter of our life is over, but I'm so glad we were able to get this far with no formula."
