Emma and Liam are no strangers to this blog. I’ve had the pleasure of photographing them for their gym Primal Fitness Hub 100s of times! We’ve been working together for 2 years now, they are absolutely the loveliest people and I LOVE shooting with them. So when they announced their pregnancy all those months ago I was so happy for them and so excited to help them celebrate with maternity portraits!

We had had grand plans of creating these maternity portraits deep in the woods surrounded by bluebells….the weather forecast made us rethink. Instead we chose to create these photos in the comfort of Emma and Liams home. I am in love with these images of the expectant parents cuddled up all cosy on their bed. Such a laid back and natural moments as they gushed about baby and all that was to come.

There was a moment where I asked Emma if she had a name she used for her bump, Liam from the other room shouted out a name…the actual name of baby which Emma of course is trying to keep as a surprise! Apparently Liam isn’t great with secrets.

I believe in creating maternity portraits which feel authentic, images which capture the calm before baby, the excitement and anticipation of pregnancy. I feel like these next two images capture that perfectly. Shooting from another room, through the doorway as if we had just happened to catch this glance in at Emma and her first born, her dog Lola. This just seems such a sweet moment between Mum and her puppy, I cannot get enough of how Lola is looking up to Emma!

Speaking of Lola, it was an absolute MUST to have her feature in the maternity portraits. We headed into baby’s nursery to get maternity portraits of the whole family cuddled together. Lola is very much a big part of this family so I’m thrilled we got such lovely photos with her including the (in my opinion) brilliant and hilarious shot with Lolas paw on bump!!

The final shots we got in Emma and Liams home were in the kitchen. I asked Emma to jump up to sit on the kitchen counter which isn’t necessarily the easiest thing to do when heavily pregnant! Thankfully Emma is a trooper and we were able to get some loving shots of the couple, full of smiles and sharing an intense connection. Like us all Emma and Liam have felt the effects of this past year. Running their own gym has meant they have had the stress that has come with the uncertainty of the pandemic. They also had to reschedule and reschedule their wedding day, now to next year.

With all that said, it’s wonderful that they now have the joy of having their baby on the way! They deserve all the happiness in the world and I hope these maternity portraits keep bringing them that joy for many many years!
