Pregnancy Photography South Wales - Pregnancy Portraits - Mum to Be Charlotte

May I introduce Charlotte and Ben, first time expectant parents and their gorgeous pooch Odin. The couple welcomed me into their lovely home in Abergavenny to capture their pregnancy portraits whilst they excitedly await for the arrival of their baby. Maternity sessions are always a delight but I have to say they’re even more exciting when a couple choose my bump to baby package. It’s wonderful to know I will be able to give these parents beautiful images which celebrate their life before and after they became a family of three!

If you’ve seen any of my latest sessions including my last pregnancy portraits session you’ll have noticed a theme…..RAIN! It’s currently March in Wales which usually means Spring showers a plenty. So I was thrilled when I arrived at the home to be greeted with bright sunshine and blue skies! Perfect for couple of shots Charlotte had asked for us to create. I often encourage clients to have a little look online at the kind of images they want to create with their pregnancy portraits. Not only will it help you get the absolute most of your session but it will help give me an idea of which kind of images I can create to make your heart skip a beat!

One of the pregnancy portraits Charlotte had seen which she loved included a doting dog looking up lovingly at their owners growing bump. I’m always keen to include pets in sessions so with a little help of a few hidden treats we managed to grab this sweet image of Odin looking up at his little brother or sister.

After our stroll through the trees the couple lead me into their courtyard, I love this set of pregnancy portraits! Mostly because they feel so intimate, the way Charlotte and Ben are leaning into one another, huge smiles, celebrating this moment they have waited so long for. But I also love them because for a couple of them I climbed into a nearby bush to get the best angle, did I mention that I was 6 months pregnant myself during this session?! I’m sure I looked anything but graceful as I climbed around and my feats certainly earned me a couple of confused looks from Odin!

Inside the couples home there is the most stunning floor to ceiling window that I fell in love with upon first sight! So of course that is exactly where we chose to create our final set of pregnancy portraits. Charlotte chose to bare her bump, opting for a understated set of underwear and a large open shirt. This is hands down on of my favourite looks for pregnancy portraits. I appreciate that not everyone feels comfortable enough in their changing bodies to bare the bump but when they do, it’s wonderful! To really focus on your wondrous bump, which has carefully nurtured and carried your baby is what these sessions are all about!

We grabbed a few more pregnancy portraits with Ben before we finally let him off the hook so I could focus in on Mum entirely. These are hands down my favourite pregnancy portraits from this session, Charlotte is simply beautiful as she looks out of the window, into the future, when baby will be earth-side, cuddled up in her arms.

Thank you so much to Charlotte and Ben for not just a lovely morning spent talking and joking about pregnancy and parenthood. But also for trusting me to capture the beauty and excitement of this chapter of their lives!
