Branding Photoshoot Mid Wales - Business Photoshoot Brecon - The Forest Doula

This session with Jess of The Forest Doula was well and truly magical. It was more than a simple business photoshoot in Brecon it was a day of connecting with nature, with each other, with ourselves and it was a day I won’t be forgetting anytime soon. I hope you can feel all of that from these images I’m about to share. Stretch that, I know you can feel it from these images!

The first thing we have to mention in this post is the LOCATION! I stumbled across this spot some months ago whilst out adventuring with my family. I fell in love immediately not just because it’s a beautiful private spot because the whole place has this gentle, soothing energy buzzing around. From the first time we discovered this place I knew I needed to shoot a business photoshoot in Brecon here. So when it came to planning Jess’s session, there was no hesitation, I knew she was the woman this space was meant for!

We began our session slowly, a business photoshoot in Brecon can feel a little daunting to even the most extroverted of us. So before I got my camera out I invited Jess to simply sit by the water, listen to its calming flow, allowing ourselves to ground into this space. Then we both pulled some oracle cards as an invitation to check in with ourselves and decide how to move forward into the experience. Jess had also bought along some incredible ceremonial cacao which added just another layer to this already brilliant start!

The cacao played a big part in the shoot itself as it is a tool Jess uses in a lot of her work, we got a good mixture of shots of her pouring it, drinking it, shots simply of the cacao itself and some images showing her smoke cleansing the drink. And not just images I was able to capture ‘b-roll’ style video clips of all of these elements too so Jess could easily create some reels after our business photoshoot in Brecon.

Another tool we wanted to explore during this business photoshoot in Brecon was the beautiful drum Jess brought along. We explored through the forest, dipped our feet in the river all while Jess played us along with her drum. Jess’s work is deeply connected to nature, in particular the forest and I think we were able to convey this connection in the images and video we created. Which would absolutely speak to the women who would benefit working with Jess and allowing her to guide them through their story as a woman.

We brought our wonderful session to an end with a speaker, an amazing playlist and a small dance session by the waterfall. Again another chance to create images showing the beauty and magic of a woman feeling embodied and connected with the earth. Some of Jess’s most popular posts on social media are of her dancing freely so there was no chance we were going to miss the opportunity to capture that magic.

The experience of this business photoshoot in Brecon was something out a fairy tale and the images we created captured it all. I’m happy to say Jess was so thrilled with her images that the message I got from her afterwards was ‘get yourself a photographer that makes you want a relationship with them after seeing the photos’. Possibly one of the best reviews I’ve ever had!
