I’m so excited to say that the Christmas photoshoots in Hay-on-Wye sessions are back for their 8th year! The mini sessions are a wonderful way to kick off the festive season and celebrate the excitement your little ones have for Christmas, They’ve really become part of so many families’ traditions and I would love for them to be a part of yours now too!

It’s a chance to pause, just for a moment, and capture your children as they are right now. Not rushed, not overdone, just gently held in this season.

This year, the Christmas photoshoots in Hay-on-Wye will take place on the 21st of November at the beautiful Larchwood Studio.

It’s honestly such a special space. A treehouse-style studio nestled in the woods, surrounded by nature, with views that make everything feel calm the moment you arrive. There’s something about being there that naturally slows things down, which feels like a bit of a gift in the run-up to Christmas.

The setup is simple and cosy, with a soft, minimalist feel. I’ve always found that keeping things understated allows your children’s personalities—and your connection as a family—to really shine through.

Each Christmas photoshoot in  Hay-on-Wye lasts around 20 minutes, which works so well for little ones. There’s no pressure for them to sit still or behave in a certain way. If they want to explore, we follow that. There’s always a rocking horse to ride, books to share and baubles to be either rolled gently along or thrown with an impressive amount of force. I’ve been doing this for 8 years now, I’ve seen it all!

That being said, if they want to stay close to you, we honour that too. Those moments where they lean into you, where you instinctively pull them in closer… those are often the ones that mean the most when you look back.

I also want to remind you that I don’t share images online where children’s faces are visible. It’s a personal choice I’ve made to protect the families I work with. But your gallery will be full of those beautiful, familiar smiles, the ones you know so well.

And really, that’s what these Christmas photoshoots in Hay-on-Wye become over time.

A way of marking each year.

Of seeing how much they’ve grown, how their little personalities are changing, how your family is evolving. The kind of thing you don’t fully realise the value of until you’re looking back on it.

Because right now, you’re in it.

The busy, noisy, magical, exhausting, love-filled days of motherhood. You’re creating Christmas for your children, whether that’s through big traditions or small, quiet moments.

And you deserve to be part of those memories too.

So if you’re thinking about joining me for a Christmas photoshoot in Hay-on-Wye this year, I’d love to welcome you. Whether it’s your first time or something you’ve come back to year after year, there’s space here for you.

Thanks for submitting!

Sarah did a shoot for our daughter's first birthday and the photos are incredible. The whole experience is super easy, relaxed and most importantly- baby led!

Our photos show our daughter's personality and the way we interact as a family with natural shots rather than posed and manipulated pictures. The shoot was really relaxed and fun and the photos we received will be treasured forever.

Sarah is a non-invasive photographer who makes you feel totally at ease and is responsive to your needs. She takes the time to get to know the family and the environment and the pictures she captures really speak for themselves! If you are wondering whether to book, do it!!
