Oh my goodness, I am still smiling thinking about this session. Abbie’s maternity shoot was one of those days that just stays with you – the kind you replay in your head and feel grateful you got to witness such a special moment in someone’s life. As a mum myself, I know how tender and exciting this season is, especially when you’re expecting your very first baby. There’s anticipation, a little nerves, and so much love already wrapped up in someone you haven’t met yet. That’s exactly why a pregnancy photoshoot in Monmouth like this feels so meaningful.

We met in Monmouth at the Priory, a place steeped in history and quiet magic. If you’ve ever stood inside those walls, you’ll know what I mean, it feels grounding, almost sacred. We chose to shoot in Geoffrey’s Room, which is such a beautiful and significant space within the building. The medieval window became our backdrop, and honestly, it couldn’t have been more perfect. The light poured in through the stone-framed glass, soft and golden, wrapping Abbie in this natural glow that made her look absolutely radiant. It was one of those moments where you barely need to do anything as a photographer because the space and the energy do all the work.

For her first look, Abbie wore a lilac gown from my client wardrobe. This dress is designed especially for maternity photoshoots, opening beautifully at the front to reveal a growing bump. The colour against the ancient stone and window light was stunning. She truly looked like a princess from a storybook, standing at her castle window, hands resting gently on her belly, gazing out with that thoughtful, dreamy look only an expectant mum has. It was such a powerful image of becoming – becoming a mother, becoming someone new while still being entirely herself. Moments like that are why I love offering a pregnancy photoshoot in Monmouth that feels personal and calm.

We then shifted into a more relaxed, casual look – classic jeans and an open shirt. This part of the session felt so effortless and real. There’s something timeless about denim and bare bump that never dates and never loses its emotional pull. Abbie was completely at ease by this point, laughing, moving naturally, and just enjoying the experience. It felt less like a photoshoot and more like a celebration with a friend who happens to have a camera.

What I loved most about this pregnancy photoshoot in Monmouth was how it gave Abbie space to honour her own story. Becoming a mother for the first time is huge. It deserves to be marked, remembered, and celebrated. The session wasn’t rushed or overly posed; it was gentle, joyful, and full of meaning. We talked, we laughed, and we paused when needed. That’s so important during pregnancy, when your body and emotions are doing so much behind the scenes.

If you’re expecting and wondering whether to book a pregnancy photoshoot in Monmouth, consider this your little nudge from a friend who’s already walked this road. One day, you’ll look back at these images and remember not just how you looked, but how you felt. Strong, hopeful, maybe a bit emotional, and completely in love already. A pregnancy photoshoot in Monmouth isn’t about perfection; it’s about capturing you, right here in this fleeting chapter, before your arms are full and your world changes in the most beautiful way. I have a modest but beautiful client wardrobe to choose from for my maternity sessions, take a look at this session to see another of these dresses. Thanks for submitting!

Sarah did a shoot for our daughter's first birthday and the photos are incredible. The whole experience is super easy, relaxed and most importantly- baby led!

Our photos show our daughter's personality and the way we interact as a family with natural shots rather than posed and manipulated pictures. The shoot was really relaxed and fun and the photos we received will be treasured forever.

Sarah is a non-invasive photographer who makes you feel totally at ease and is responsive to your needs. She takes the time to get to know the family and the environment and the pictures she captures really speak for themselves! If you are wondering whether to book, do it!!
